So! Why have I been “missing”?
I have been completely drained and fighting extreme fatigue which proved futile.
I ended being our cats, sleeping almost more than 12 hours a day.
And whatever little time I got was to fulfil my projects and orders.
Thank God for Richard, he helped with the work load and house chores.
And all this for the fact that I am in my first trimester.
Yes, after 14 years of marriage, we are having our first baby :)
We take as a blessing from God, may His name be blessed forever!

Thank you all for being so supportive and we look forward to your continued support!
I’ll be back on track soon enough dear friends ~ XOXO

With much love in all it honesty,

5 Beauty Things in my Bag for 2013

Ok, this is definitely an unconventional topic I am touching upon – beauty products.
I am the free and easy type that does not put A N Y T H I N G on my face or my hair.
I just clean my face, comb my hair and I am ready to step out.
I am pretty much a low-maintenance woman with personal preference of no-fuss attitude!
Plus with encouragement from Richard commenting sweetly, that I look more like a clown with makeup, and better off au natural.
Though I do paint my nails once every blue moon.

BUT! Yes, but, I do own a small black pouch of “the basics” for events we HAVE to attend.
Simple kohl, mascara and light rouge on my facial palette.
And I will end up feeling paranoid the whole evening about the lipstick – is it gone? is it smeared? is it looking like an outline?
Ok, I am exaggerating, but I do get uncomfortable with the texture on my lips.

BUT, playing sport to GIG Spotlight series of this week’s topic, ‘What I Want in my Bag for 2013 – 5 top/wanted beauty list’, please bear with a beauty noob!

GIG

I am a lover of a magic carpet bag – so here is what I would have in my bag, AND not just the 5 beauty items. ENJOY!

With much love in all its honesty ~ XO!

Let’s eat the moon!

Every 15th day of the 8th lunar month, the Chinese tradition of celebrating the moon cake festival is widespread. And this year, the Mooncake Festival or also called the Mid-Autumn Festival, fell on last Sunday.

Richard and I don’t celebrate it but if we had kids of our own, we would do so for the novelty of lighting up pretty lanterns and sparklers, and enjoying sweet lotus paste mooncakes that have delicious salted egg yolks inside, YUMMY-YUM-YUM!

This year, we had some delicious mooncakes, c/o of my mother-in-law.
They are actually gifts from a property developer for a project called Eight River Suites (click here to visit the project website), because my brother-in-law works there. Can you imagine? Going to view a property showroom and being presented with mooncakes as door gifts, impressive.
And they weren’t the cheap kind. They were moist and the lotus paste was very smooth, they literally melt down your throat. Though, I wish the salted egg was more oily, like it use to.

Here are some snap shots of the mooncakes we ate and the packaging it came in.

Clockwise from top left:
Half of the mooncake showing the salted egg yolk, yummy • Door gift from Eight River Suites • Close up of Chang’e (Moon goddess of immortality) • Chinese calligraphy that says, “Reunion of love by the moon, Eight River Suites celebrates the Mid-autumn” • Box opens up to contain only 2 pieces of mooncakes (already in our tummy) and fastens with concealed magnets

Some more mooncake eye candy for you (sourced from the internet)

Clockwise from top left:
Snowskin with Champagne truffle & Ganache • Traditional mooncake of lotus bean paste • Jelly mooncake with pineapple bits (Chinese belief that pineapple represents prosperity) • Hello Kitty – what next?! • Traditional mooncake with salted egg yolk • Traditional mooncake set from the Concorde Hotel (hotels are very fond of making and selling their own brand of mooncakes and have them sold at mooncake festival fairs at shopping malls)

Typical lanterns enjoyed by children and adults alike

Wooden mold for the making of mooncakes
They come in various patterns, mostly floral.

We hope we have introduced an interesting cultural tradition for your enjoyment :D

Coming up next this week, NEW DESIGNS from JeannieRichard!
Stay fashionably and responsibly chic, XO JR

Stained Red Fingers

As with some cultures, namely the Chinese and the Jews, we go with the Lunar calendar for important dates. For the Jewish high holidays calendar, namely Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, etc.

Today is the first day of Rosh Hashanah and also my lunar birthdate.
Though I normally do nothing for my birthdays, but my mother-in-law boiled me the customary red eggs that Chinese do on birthdays.
And I thought I would love to share this moment with you all.

(Photo is taken from Kaleidoscope Cultural China website and you can learn of the Red Egg tradition by clicking here)

I officially enter the third cycle of my life, I am a dragon baby of a leap year and this year is also a leap year.
This year is somewhat special to me because, not only is my lunar birthdate the first day of Rosh Hashanah, but also my gregorian birthday the first day of Yom Kippur – a day of repentance and atonement. These are very important to me and I hold no demarcation between spiritual and corporeal life. God is the centre of both Richard and my life, our union.

So as they say in hebrew, L’Chaim! (to life)
We wish all of you love and many happy returns.
With red stained fingers ~ ❤ JR

כתיבה וחתימה טובה

It’s Rosh Hashanah for us Jewish folks!
Here’s wishing all of you out there שנה טובה (shana tova / a good year) and כתיבה וחתימה טובה (ketiva ve-chatima tovah / may you be written and sealed for a good year)!!

With love, peace and hope ~ ❤ JR

September is MY Month!

YIIIIUP! September is my month and in 21 days, I become 36 :D
Let’s first boogie woogie with Earth, Wind and Fire’s September with a little twist by Pomplamoose! *dancing and singing in chair*

Have the happy jibbies dancing in you now? :D
Well I DO, heheheh!
So here is my wish (lust) list if you don’t mind me sharing, even if I don’t receive them as presents from some beautiful soul out there (*hint hint*), I seriously intend to own every one of them.

#1 Lytro in Graphite
Lytro lets you take pictures like never before. Unlike a conventional camera that captures a single plane of light, the Lytro camera captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space.
Capture everything – instantly, living pictures with the press of a single button. By instantly capturing complete light field data, the Lytro camera gives you capabilities you’ve never had in a regular camera.
I SO WANT THIS little nifty thing ~ I want to capture the beauty I am graced with and share with everyone!

#2 Epson Stylus Pro 3885
Smallest professional A2 printer with unrivaled quality.
I want to start going back to my pencils, brushes and paper!
It has been my desire for more than a decade and now more so because I want to use this to spread positive messages to everybody :D
((( SO people people ))) Watch out for me with a new shop selling art prints!

#3 Corset Mannequin
Isn’t she a delectable beauty?
Her plush smooth velvet skin in the palest of creamy pink ~ divine…
I definitely could use her for our jewelry and who knows, clothes making.
It is after all where I started from, designing clothes.

#4 Singer 160 Limited Edition
Timeless Style and Modern Innovation. Introducing The SINGER 160™ limited edition sewing machine. Created to commemorate the SINGER® brand’s 160 year anniversary by taking design cues from the past while introducing our simplest and most easy to use machine available.
Need I say more? Electronic vintage looking sewing machine!
She looks so sexy and works like a horse.
I want to manifest all the ideas in my head, not just clothing but for home!

#5 Beading Loom
Currently we are hand-stitching every tiny bead into place.
With a bead loom, we can use it for a different stitching and effect and patterns galore!

I do have one more – a knitting machine.
Pretty please?
XO! Jeannie (no Richard today, this is my wish lust list!)

The Cat with Hands

Don’t get me wrong here with this post ~ we absolutely love felines.
We care for two ourselves and for those who know us well enough, we are also working towards our dream of establishing a pet sanctuary.

But this story/video is something really interesting.
The Cat with Hands is a dream inspired tale of a scary kitty with a thirst for human body parts. Writer-director Robert Morgan has cleverly and creepily presented this story in amusing stop-motion animation ~ we love stop-motion.

I wonder if our little girl Rani has such strange connotations, she never sees herself as a cat. She never once groomed our poor gentleman of a boy, Beary Jr. Every time he grooms her, she smacks him in the face… sigh.
Fortunately, nature will not have such insane animal desires to manifest!

Do bear in mind that this is just a very surreal story, do NOT bungle this notion with real life felines who are everything soft, lovable, comical, goofy and divinely created by God. :)

Enjoy a little afternoon short-film matinee ~ XO JR ❤
